The word “CrossFit” seems to carry a certain idea ofexclusiveness with it, like it’s only for super fit people or people willing tosuffer. You can Google the word and get imagesof elite athletes accomplishing seemingly impossible movements or see anaverage person in their garage gym doing something incredible dumb. In reality, CrossFit is for anyone no matter the age or level of fitness.
CrossFit workouts are purposefully designed to get you in thebest shape of your life. They hit all the energy systems, muscle groups, movements, speeds, weights, you name it! They are also able to be modified so that anyone can do them – young, old, beginner, advanced, injured, adaptive –ANYONE. The purpose of fitness is to increase the amount of time you are moving your body, improve your strength and mobility and increase your work capacity. It doesn’t matter if your ultimate goal is to compete in a sport or keep up with your grandkids.
Every movement of every workout can be modified to be appropriate to each individual fitness level. Two people at two polar opposite fitness levels can accomplish the same workout, working at equal levels of intensity relative to them.
