(Week 5 of The 5 Pillars of Health)
Over the past few weeks, we’ve covered movement, sleep, nutrition, and social connection—each one building on the last. But there’s one final piece that can either support all of those efforts… or quietly unravel them: stress. And for a lot of people, it’s become such a normal part of life that they don’t even realize how much it’s affecting them.
Stress doesn’t just live in your mind—it shows up everywhere. It impacts your sleep, your energy, your mood, your cravings, and even how your body responds to workouts. You can be doing “everything right,” but if stress is constantly running in the background, it makes progress feel harder than it should. Not impossible—just heavier.
The tricky part is that most people don’t actually manage stress—they just push through it. They stay busy, keep going, and tell themselves they’ll slow down eventually. But eventually tends to keep moving. Managing stress doesn’t mean eliminating it (because let’s be honest, that’s not happening). It means creating small moments where your body and mind can reset.
That might look like a walk without your phone, a workout that clears your head, a few minutes of quiet before the day starts, or simply stepping away long enough to breathe and regroup. It doesn’t have to be perfect or time-consuming—it just has to be intentional. Because when stress is managed, everything else starts to work a little better.
And that’s the bigger picture. These five pillars aren’t meant to be tackled all at once or done perfectly. They work together, support each other, and create a foundation you can build on over time. Start with one, build momentum, and keep going.
